US actor Finn, who was seen in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, playing a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his family.
