Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
