The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of musicians contributing to Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their objective is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The song is launching on Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
